Excursion in Old Orkhey

rheiul Vechi (Old Orkhey) is a medieval town, interesting museum complex, existing from the time of geto-dacs- frak setllements. Two times it was destroyed and two times it was rebuilt from ruins due to moldavian rulers and turkish forstallers.

he first stopping is at the museum complex- fortress of Gangura Pircalab, that refers to the epoch of period of reighn of Stefan the Great. This great moldavion ruler led violent battle with the enemies of differernt forces, but the most important battles that he led were namely in strengthened buildings on that parts of country where landscape allows to see the most breezy territoties, from where unexpected attacks may come.

ear the parking, tourists may visit the museum of arheological discovery, where can be found all types of crockery from different times and settlements, instruments of labor, subjects of manners, which were found in many stratums of soil of differenr periods.

or many centuries, each nation has religious traditions, which are held and handed down from one generation to another. On the territory of the museum complex we can visit 2 objects of religious culture: Sacrific Uspennsk rocking church, built by monarchs-hermits in XII-XIII centuries and a small church built at the begining of XV th century by turcks at the time when the town Shehr-ali-Dgedid existed on this territory. Passing along the river Raur, we can enter in two small rooms, made in rock- Bosia monarchy that once was owned by the moldavian ruler Vlaicu Pircalab in the XVII century. Here are preserved inscriptions on the walls, in old slavic languages.

t's impossible to pass away from the place where was situated the first strengthening, refered to the geto- dac period. South fracs choosed for their settlements open areas on high sides in order to observe from all the parts where the danger may come from. Unfortunately there is nothing left besides mentions about these buildings, but archaeologists say that on this very own place the first moldavian settlements arose. As an evidence there are 3 circles on the earth, marked by simple stones. This is an astronomic calendar with the help of which our grandfathers accounted days, months, years and time of the day bysun.

f you visit a Butuceni village, you have the possibility to enter small house. The majority of moldavian population before XIX - beggining of the XX century lived in such houses. You will see the famous Casa Mare, decorated by products of handwork, loom, household effects,that is not used today, bur exists in museums. You should enter in one more house, decorated by a well-disposed man. Here you can see a big collection of antique things, that people found in their gardens.

eaving this territory, you must visit the Tribujeni village, were moieties of turkish baths are kept. Looking on them it is difficult to imaginate that they had subsol heating, but archaeologists confirm that these baths were built according to the rome architecture so that warmth was passed by loamy pipings that were situated in the fundament of this building.
